Hello! My name is Jaclyn and I FMSEA President for 2016-2017. I wanted to give you all some information about me. I have been teaching for over 5 years. I hold a Masters of Science in Environmental Education and a Bachelor’s of Science in Marine Biology. I am certified as a Florida teacher in Earth/Space Science and Biology. Teaching is my number one passion. I love getting students excited and interested in all aspects of science, especially anything to do with ocean literacy.
I am an avid SCUBA diver and instructor. I run the SCUBA Knights program at Saint Paul’s, where middle school students can obtain their SCUBA certifications. I also love to dive and be in the ocean as much as possible.
I also work closely with the non-profit Shark Angels. I am the education coordinator and I work to help other teachers set up clubs, like the Shark Angels club we have at Saint Paul’s. Sharks are my favorite animal, and I work hard and teach our students that these misunderstood animals are vital to our ocean’s health, and ultimately our planet’s health.
My husband and I live in a zoo. We have 3 dogs, 3 cats, a turtle and a 3 legged Guinea pig. We love Disney and spend many weekends there, or at the beach, springs or trails exploring all that Florida’s environment has to share.
