Oyster Boats on Apalachicola Bay

As the Panhandle Regional Director, I want to encourage all our region’s FMSEA members to send me news and announcements that would be of interest to marine and aquatic educators. I would also love to hear your ideas for regional get togethers. You can email me at rd-panhandle@fmsea.org.
Two upcoming events:

  1. International Coastal Cleanup on Saturday Sept. 15. To join us in Franklin County see http://www.saltyflorida.com/events/franklin-county-coastal-cleanup/429/ for locations. To find cleanups in other counties go to: http://www.signuptocleanup.org/ and navigate the  map to find sites near you.
  2. Estuaries Day – Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve Friday Sept 28, 1:30-6:00 Eastern Time. Estuaries Day Celebration will include lots of free educational (and fun) activities for kids of all ages, free t-shirts to the first 600 people and door prizes for adults who stay until the end of the event. There will be scavenger hunts, animal touch tanks, games and much more. Enter parking lot from 108 Island Drive no earlier than 1:00pm. Visitors will not be allowed to enter the building or park until 1:30 when the event officially begins.
